This legislative year also coincides with a joyful period of transition in the new history of the new Turkish State. Out War of Independence of four years resulted in a kind of peace that befits the glorious fame of our nation. Once the treaty we signed in Lausanne is submitted to the approval of your National Assembly, we will have entered a free and independent realm of work in every sense. I sincerely hope that we will preserve this happy outcome, the problems outside of the Treaty of Lausanne will be resolved for certain, and that we will succeed fully in our fruitful endeavors to maintain the peace and welfare of this nation.
